Maureen was born in 1934 in the district of Bloemfontein and after she finished her high school education did a diploma in fine arts and sculpture at the Technical College of Durban in 1955. She followed this up with a post gradate course in sculpture at the Goldsmith College of Art in London. In 1987 she spent three months at the Cite des Artes in Paris . In 1990 she was awarded the silver medal for her contribution to sculpture in South Africa by the University of Pretoria. She has had more than 40 solo exhibitions and participated in three retrospective exhibitions throughout South Africa. She has numerous public commissions to her credit and her work is represented in all the major collections in South Africa.
